88_race_results_08.doc.jpg

Safe and cautious in the truck, in the race car – not so much!  The Atlantis-sponsored Pontiac piloted by our own local driver, Dave Vandebelt has been having a great season and with three races yet to go is 7th in the standings, well within grasp of a third place finish in the overall standings.  Over half of the races have seen the 88 car finish in the top ten with no result less than 12th!  No small feat with 43 drivers on the roster of the Thorsons EVT series that runs every Saturday night on the 1/2 mile paved oval of Mosport Speedway.

New Trucks (2008-07-01)

09_Cascadia.JPG

Green is now more than just our company colours! Last month the first new tractors built to our environmentally-friendly specifications were delivered. The Freightliner Cascadia and Peterbilt 387 both qualify for ‘EPA Smartway’ certification due to their aerodynamic design, side skirts, low rolling resistance tires, and Auxiliary Power Units which virtually eliminate idling time. The Detroit DDC 60 – 14.0L (455 HP) engines in the Freightliners and the Cummins ISX 450 (450 HP) in the Peterbilts are equipped with exhaust re-generation and meet the latest emissions standards. Newer technology has also been employed to ensure these units exceed normal standards for safety. All of them are equipped with Bendix Disc Brakes to greatly improve stopping distance and take the worry out of brake adjustment while Stability Controls (Bendix in the Peterbilt, Wabco in the Freightliner) reduce the chance of rollover in an emergency situation. Driver comfort is always a top priority and these new models have upgraded interiors with refrigerators, in-dash Sirius satellite radios, and heated seats added to the list of amenities installed in previous models. In the next few months watch for the arrival of our next-generation trailers that will also receive the ‘green’ treatment and upgraded safety standards.
